A fictional room study explores an arrival bench, reading corner, and movable project tray. A modest proposal for a more useful shared space.

The Window Room

The Window Room is a fictional shared space used for reading, sketching, and small group conversations. Its first arrangement put every activity around one crowded table. This case study describes a simple alternative, without inventing performance metrics or claiming a real client project.

## The starting question

Could people arrive, sit, and find a useful surface without rearranging the entire room? We looked at the route from the entrance before choosing any objects.

## Three modest changes

1. A bench near the entrance gives bags a landing place.
2. A chair and lamp define a reading corner beside the window.
3. A shallow tray lets unfinished work move safely off the main table.

## The working arrangement

| Area | What belongs here | What stays clear |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Entrance | Bags and outdoor layers | The route into the room |
| Reading corner | A few books and a lamp | Space to sit and stand |
| Shared table | The activity happening now | A place for the next person |

## What to observe next

A completed arrangement is a proposal. Ask room users whether they can find what they need, whether the walking route feels comfortable, and which objects still have no clear home. Record those observations before making further changes.
